day 10/
Thursday, March 31, 20112:45 AM
today is kind of the last day for us for the ppp. First off, we were brought to the lecture theater for a brief explanation of where we going to go and what we were going to do. we were then told that we would be going to the singapore biennale located at the old changi airport, and our main aim is to see what the process of Art is all about and appreciating them.
So , off we went to take the bus and we arrived at the biennale. We decided to go to toast box first to have breakfast/ take a short break before heading off to the biennale. After having our fill , we broke off in tiny groups and explored the different blocks.
Along the way, we were faced with different kinds of exhibits, some that i have no way of figuring out what they were, but i have to admit everything was really interesting and everyone was had fun exploring each exhibit.
After around 2 hours or more walking around and snapping pictures, we figured we were too lethargic to continue and our minds could not assess any more of the remaining exhibits of the last block , we went down to take the shuttle bus to dhoby ghaut mrt and proceeded to farrer park to have our lunch at Swensens. After a hearty meal, we went back home.

DAY 9/
Tuesday, March 29, 201112:47 AM
today is day 9 of the ppp and today was quite a short day for us. Focusing on interactive media and design, we went to the most interactive museum in singapore, which is the LTA museum, and four seniors were following us
After a long bus ride there, we reached the museum .There was a guide accompanying us around to explain the details of each exhibit to us. The exhibits mainly focuses on the evolution of our transport systems since the olden days where transport was much more under developed and traffic congestion was a huge problem, to the present where our transport system is more technologically advanced ,more convenient now and much much faster than before.
There was also a "challenge room" where all of us had to make choices for future challenges in transports. Also, there was also a particular exhibit that foresees what could the future transportation be like.
After the trip to the museum, we had lunch at a nearby indian restaurant, the banana leaf Apolo , where we had scrumptious indian cuisine , which not only burnt our throats but our pockets as well

day 8/
12:41 AM
today is day 8 of the ppp and what we did firstly was that we were given a briefing by ms vani, who told us about the details of the design process ,the main concept is that firstly we are given the brief, then we must go through the process and lastly we will arrive at the final product. So, we were given a particular scenario whereby we will put this into use, we needed to come up with a design for YOUth for bags, pencil cases and tote bags for them to sell for fundraising . It was not a real scenario though.
We were then given a one and a half hours to go to the library to come up with two designs. after looking for some inspiration from books ,we settled down at a table in a corner and everyone started playing music on their headphones and started to draw.
After that , we had lunch and along with jonathan's and Serena's guidance, we took a bus to sunshine plaza, where we got to know where are the alternatives for printing are, besides the school. After that we went to Bras Basah to look at the materials that we can obtain from art friend there, and after spending an hour or so walking around the place, we were then dismissed from there.

day 7/
Sunday, March 27, 20115:12 AM
okay, day 7 of the ppp was focused on photography, a module taken by Vsc students. initially, i thought that it'll be quite boring cause i'm not really a good photographer, and afraid that i might lose out to alot if there were to be a presentation or something.
how wrong i was. Firstly ,we were first brought to the studio for shoots and we were then taught the different ways the different lights that could affect a picture in the end. After that, jess volunteered to be the model and everyone would take pictures of her to look at the different effects . It was so fun,so much more fun that i had expected that it would be. We were then split into groups of 3 where we were given a theme and had to take 10 pictures reflecting that theme.(my theme was "a hungry man is an angry man"
We were then brought to the showroom for the year twos' end of year finished projects. It was quite an eye opener for me as i felt excited to accomplish my own project next time and have it to be exhibited .
After going around to take pictures for our group, all three groups did a short presentation. After goofing around in the studio more ,we were then dismissed. This has made me learnt a lot about the studio conditions and also some of the features of the DSLR which i have yet to learn by myself.

Day 6/
Thursday, March 24, 20115:58 AM
Today is day 6 of the school discovery program and we were going to focus on EVD (environment design) and IAD (interior architecture design) first half of the day was scheduled for EVD and we were first introduced to Mr Hariff. He seems to be different from the other lecturers that i had seen this week as he seemed to be more easy going, humorous but also able to give out clear instructions to us. we were brought up to level five to the evd project room and then we were given instructions on what to do. we first settled down and he asked us seperately what we all wanted to achieve from this PPP and he listed them down. he then told us its our "contract" and we should achieve what we said earlier by the end of PPP. After being split into groups, we were tasked to list out what characteristics should a good design team have and that should be our "contract" as well, to be able to do that with our own team mates. We were then tasked to list out all the things that a good city should have in our opinions and the things that we are reminded of when we see the word "eco - friendly"and then we are supposed to draft out a rough drawing of an ideal city of ours and it must be eco-friendly. After half an hour , we rounded up and had to do a short presentation about our "city" during these two hours, although short but i have learnt that environmental design is not only about the building design, but also a harmony between the environment and the people there. After lunch, we were focusing on IAD and for that , we watched an hour and a half movie known as Garbage Warrior , which mainly focuses on this man, known as mike and together with his crew, they have a vision to build a community that uses materials that have been thrown away to build houses without using any sources of energy to build a sustainable environment. They have shown his struggles to introduce a new law for test sites for new housings, the houses he have built over all these years, the way these houses have helped victims of natural disasters and also the interior of these houses. Amazingly as they seem , they are all made up of materials that human have little emphasis for like abandoned tyres, cans and bottles and turned them into little masterpieces all over the houses made up of the simplest of materials. After the movie, we were then dismissed. This concludes my sixth day of my school discovery program.

Day 5/
Wednesday, March 23, 20113:56 AM
today is day 5 of the school discovery program and today we were focusing on MOI , also known as moving images. So, our lecturer for today is Mr Guna , many seniors has told us that he is a very nice lecturer and i believe we all agree after today's lesson. First up ,we were brought to the equipment room where we loaned a total of 3 cameras, 3 laptops and 3 tripod stands. After that we went up to the MOI room , where we saw many students still involved in their work and assignments. We were assigned into groups of three and we were briefed on our assignment for today, which was to come up with a one minute video at the end of the day. He also taught us the different shots that could be taken, for example the basic shots like BCU, which is the close up of an object ,or person, CU which is zooming in around the head level of the person ,LS (long shot) which is anything and mixshot. There was also other kinds of shots for example, panaromic and pan . In my group, there is Jessica , Dianna and myself and we started brainstorming our idea. We finally came up with a concept of three girls who were once playmates in their secret garden and we started exploring the different places we used to go as a child and finally met each other at the end.Nature was also our main focus. Our video has no speeches and instead, they are substituted by actions , expressions and background music. After Lunch, we had an hour to shoot our video. We went to Bedok reservoir as that was the most quiet, had the most "nature" elements and we could do our shooting without disturbing anyone.Jessica and Dianna did the directing during the first few shots which were my scenes and after that , it was jess's turn and followed by Dianna's. We shot past a little after one hour and after we came back, Mr Guna roughly explained the basics to editing a video using Final cut and garage band. Firstly , he did the editing for our first scene and wow did it came out perfectly. in between shots, we had to snip out a little here and there to enable a good flow and he added dissolve frames to let everything flow even more smoothly. He helped another group edit their first scene and added their background music as well. Throughout everything, he reminded us of the little details that could make a huge difference in our videos and told us shortcuts on macbook's keyboards on editing softwares. Overall,i do believe his patience and guidance had paid off as i have learnt so much from only this few hours of lesson and hands on experience and after a short debrief, we were then dismissed from there. This marks the end of my fifth day of school discovery program.

Day 4/
Tuesday, March 22, 20115:00 AM
Today we were focusing on product and industrial design. First off, we were greeted by the lecturer and we were brought to around the workshops and the classrooms where the PID students were using. He then briefed us about the rough schedule of today and gave us the necessary materials to work with and what we needed to do there.( take pictures of a creation that attracts us and how it can be improved) After that we took a bus to the URA museum to look at the stages of urban development in singapore, where we spotted a 3d model of the whole of singapore , where all of the buildings are being modeled as little wooden shapes. Everyone was so fascinated by the intricate design and the details of it as we were all busy searching for our "tinyhomes" in the vastness of the model. Shortly after, we were then brought to the Red Dot Museum where we saw the works of different award - winning designers that screams out their innovation and creativity. I was really amazed by how ordinary objects can be turned into something even more useful/ have better functions/so much more improved than the original product. Before this, i had totally no idea that these things existed and that someone would be so talented to create such creations that would help make this world a much better place. After indulging in the good food at the hawker centre right along maxwell road, we then headed back to school where we prepared for our mini presentation. my improved design is based on the Magisso cake server, which has the ability to cut a cake and also to serve the cake. so, my improvement to it is to make it even more compact, to make it more eco-friendly and allow it to have more functions. i added hinges to it to make it foldable, change the material to hard plastic recyable) and added grits and teeth at the bottom of the knife to cut patterns on the cake. After listening to my classmates' improved designs , we were also told that we needed to get used to the idea of morphing designs. So, that marks the end of day 4 of the school discovery program.
